It has come to my attention that I allowed your first birthday to pass without so much as a card or a cupcake. Even given the time-consuming nature of recent momentous events (of which I’ve included appropriately food-themed photos below), for someone who has brought so much joy and purpose into my life, my negligence has been inexcusable.
Happy birthday, blog.
I hope you can find it in yourself to forgive me, and that our culinary adventures can continue as before.
Yours truly,
– Cheruko
- Ours is the only wedding I’ve ever been to that had Goldfish. I expect to see more in the future.
- My grandma really took on the vegetarian cooking challenge. Pictured here is the Enchanted Broccoli Forest (from Mollie Katzen’s classic cookbook by the same name).
- Flowers from my mother’s garden.
- My father, the birthday boy, enjoys a quart of Candy Cap Mushroom (read: delicious) ice cream.
- Proceeds from this special release of North Coast Brewing Co.’s Old Stock Ale go to tsunami relief in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture. Amazing beer. 12% alcohol. Much dancing was done this day.
- Pretty much the happiest day of my life so far.
- My grandmother made my wedding dress.
- In homage to Michael’s favorite fandom. (Also, the cake was really good.)
- It was.
Dear Blog,
I missed Cheruko’s attentions to you too. Glad to see her back at it. You too, huh? Later.
Dear Tammy,
I most certainly am.
